Donc ce personne était sanajik ou arnaqutik de l'enfant, en voulant dire "celui qui a crier l'enfant" car c'est lui qui coupait le cordon de l'enfant. L'enfant en grandissant donnerais sont premier n'importe quoi (premier renard, caribou, la première fois qu'elle fais des mittaines etc…) à sont sanajik ou arnaqutik. Le sanajik ou arnaqutik est celui qui reçoit des cadeaux de l'enfant a la fête de l'enfant. Une manière spéciale de dire merci pour l'aide de la naissance de l'enfant.
Traditionally when a child was born, there would be a midwife or midhusband (lol) delivering the child. So this person would be sanajik or arnaqutik of the child, meaning the "one that create the child" since she or he would cut the umbilical cord. The child growing up would give it's "first" what ever (first fox, caribou, goose, first mitts etc…) to her sanajik or arnaqutik. The sanajik or arnaqutik is the one that receives gifts from the child on his or her birthday. A special way to say thank you for the help of the child's birth.

we had a baby today… that's something you don't get to say often!
mom and babe are both well. it's a boy… goin' by the name of Will (William) Poole.

he had a pretty relaxed day and seems to like sleeping so far! carol's in hospital until sunday or monday.

A very first mega-garage sale encourages the board members of the Association of Montreal Inuit (A.M.I.) to do more in the future. The mega-garage sale took place on Saturday June 17th, 2006 in Pierrefonds.

Yesterday June 21st, for the National Aboriginal Day We had quite a few inuit coming here for the supper. We could have had more but who's complaining with all the people that came here. We had macaroni, sandwhich, frozen caribou and fish that my mom brought, bannick that she made. Very good bannick that Annie Michael made. With that there was juice and Coca Cola. There will be nice pictures added when my beautiful photographer Amanda Baron sends them my way:)
Hier le 21 juin, la journée nationale des autochtones il y avait pas mal d'inuit pour le souper, je me dit il pouvait en avoir plus mais je ne plaind pas. On mangaient macaroni, sandwhich, caribou et poisson gelé que ma mère avait amener, la bannique qu'elle avait fait. Très bon bannique que Annie Michael avait fait. Il y avait du jus, Coca Cola. Today June 21st, we as aboriginal have our day. So to all aboriginal out there; happy aboriginal day!!
There will be a supper at 6:00pm at the Nunavik information Centre for inuit and their families living in Quebec city. We will have frozen caribou, frozen fish, some salad and sheperd's pie.

Après s’être tenu dans les villes de Fairbanks (Alaska, 2005), d’Iqaluit (Nunavut 2003), et de Nuuk (Groenland, 2002), le séminaire IPSSAS (International Ph.D. School of Social Sciences in Arctic Societies) a eu lieu cette année dans la communauté de Kuujjuaq. Une fois l’an, ce réseau de professeurs et d’étudiants gradués se rencontrent dans une communauté arctique afin d’échanger autour d’un thème et présenter leurs recherches en cours. À Kuujjuaq, du 22 mai au 2 juin 2006, 8 professeurs et 9 étudiants provenant de l’Alaska, du Québec, de l’Alberta, du Groenland, du Danemark, d’Allemagne et, enfin, de France ont discuté sur le thème de l’autodétermination (« self-governance ») dans les sociétés arctiques.
Le choix de tenir ce séminaire à Kuujjuaq n’était pas anodin. Les Nunavimmiut en sont justement à élaborer un gouvernement régional pour mieux desservir et administrer leur région. Ce projet est unique à plusieurs égards, notamment du fait qu’il s’agit bien de la première forme de gouvernement régional public à l’intérieur même d’une province canadienne.
